Alexey Bogdanov

The John Weil Young Investigator Award is presented to Dr. Alexey Bogdanov for the significant contributions to EPR spectroscopy, for developing a new methodology that extends the distance range accessible by ¹⁹F-ENDOR measurements of spin labeled proteins, which exploits the high spin character of Gd(III) spin labels, and for using CW-EPR spectroscopy and sophisticated spectral simulations to unravel the mechanism of the photoalignment of azobenzene containing liquid-crystalline polymers, a prominent process used in photonic devices and in optical data storage.
